Ally Bowe shares five tracks for her new single, ANYMORE, that inspired her journey to reclaim her power!
P!nk’s “So What” influenced the unapologetic attitude behind “Anymore”. Its honest, confident bridge inspired me to confront problematic behaviour in my own music. Her fearless energy and powerful pop-rock sound shaped “Anymore” into an energetic anthem
about reclaiming your power and standing up for yourself with strength.
Kelly Clarkson, “Since U Been Gone”
“Since U Been Gone” showcases the feeling of freedom “Anymore” centres around. Despite the different contexts, I connected with the idea of someone no longer having power over you. The huge pop-rock energy influenced the “spread my wings and fly” feeling of finally
leaving that person behind.
A major inspiration for the production choices behind “Anymore”. I loved the build-up within the drums and arrangement, and the way it creates a massive emotional impact without losing the raw, vulnerable feeling of the song. That energy influenced the way the instruments grow, and drive the song forward to the eventual climax.
Billie Eilish, “Happier Than Ever”
“Happier Than Ever” inspired the emotional release of “Anymore”. Billie Eilish successfully captures the feeling of being pushed past your breaking point after keeping your emotions contained for so long. That shift from quiet hurt and vulnerability to an explosive ending
influenced the emotional journey I wanted “Anymore” to take.
“good 4 u” inspired the confrontational energy behind “Anymore”. Olivia Rodrigo transforms frustration and betrayal into an anthem through huge drums and an unapologetic attitude. This influenced my approach to writing “Anymore”, allowing me to call out harmful behaviour while expressing that the person’s actions no longer have power over me.
