Aydan shares a selection of songs that helped shape the sound and spirit of his new single, “Loverboy”, marking a genre shift into R&B and pop.
Justin Timberlake, “Rock Your Body”
The falsetto and vocal phrasing in this song were a huge inspiration for me. I loved how effortless Justin made everything feel while still sounding rhythmic and catchy. That balance between groove and vocal control definitely shaped parts of the way I approached Loverboy.
Michael Jackson, “You Rock My World”
This track really inspired the overall feeling of Loverboy. The kick drum, the bounce, and that feeling you get when you close your eyes and just rock your head to the groove. I wanted my song to feel addictive and cool in the same way.
Chris Brown, “Run It!“
I borrowed a lot of the attitude from this song. There’s this confident, playful energy to the way Chris is chasing after the girl, and I wanted Loverboy to carry some of that same charm and sentiment without taking itself too seriously.
This song inspired some of the playful nature in both the lyrics and melodies. This was a big inspo for the pre chorus melody, i don’t know why, I was just bumping this song searchig for the right way to take the song. I love how Usher keeps it catchy and full of personality. That balance influenced the writing style on Loverboy.
Señorita really inspired the vibe of Loverboy. It has this cool, flirty energy that feels effortless, and I connected with the idea of wanting someone. Also alot of the call and response inspired the bvs of the song, which I think really make a big difference, without them the song feels underwhelming.
