Paprika genre-blending band announce their upcoming EP release and a special launch show featuring live premieres, film, and community energy.

You’ve described your sound as “Alternative City Pop.” What does that mean to you as a band?

We label ourselves as Alternative City Pop because we’re trying to draw on the city pop music of the ’80s, but with a modern twist. It’s about taking that nostalgic influence and reworking it in a way that feels current.

How does that come through in your songwriting, particularly on the new material?

For this song especially, the inspiration came more from the cheesiness of the lyrics and the grandness of the gesture, rather than just the sonics. In that sense, it’s probably a bit of an outlier compared to the rest of our songs.

Do you feel like the new single stands apart from the rest of your music?

Yeah, Supernatural, in the context of the EP we’re about to release, definitely stands out. It leans a lot more into modern influences—especially in terms of the production.

How does that compare to some of your other tracks?

Our other songs, like “Synthesizer Love, have more of a pure city pop sound. With “Supernatural,” we were really trying to push things forward and challenge ourselves—pushing the boundaries of what our sound can be.

And how did it feel making the track?

We’re really proud of it. It’s probably the song we can all agree was the most free-flowing to make. Everything just came together naturally.

You’ve got a new EP on the way—can you tell us a bit about it?

Yeah! The EP is called “Tomorrow Was a Good Day!—remember that! It’s coming out on the 4th of December, and we’re really excited to finally share it with everyone.

That’s so soon. And you’re also celebrating with a special live show, right?

We are! We’re playing a really special gig on the 5th of December at Wax Music Lounge to celebrate the EP release.

Amazing. What can people expect on the night?

It’s our official EP launch, and we’re playing alongside Banksia, who are a super cool jazz house band. We’re also going to be premiering a short film music video that we made to go along with the EP.

That sounds huge.

Yeah, we spent a long time in production on it, so we’re really excited for people to finally see it. It’s going to be super sick. Then, of course, we’ll be premiering the EP live as well.

Sounds like a full experience, not just a gig.

Exactly. It’s going to be super fun—so come down and have some fun with us!

The new EP Tomorrow Was a Good Day!” out December 4th. Thanks so much for chatting with I Don’t Blame You Media!
