For YTS Gucciboi, being an experimental artist helps his creative growth, genre fluidity, and the personal stories behind his latest release, Lost Thoughts.
You’re here to tell us a little bit about what’s been going on with your music lately. How would you describe your sound?
My music is kind of something you can debate about. I’d say I’m an experimental artist, so I don’t really restrict myself. I believe creativity goes in many ways. When it comes to genre, I started off with hip hop and rap, but now it’s more about whatever I’m able to achieve and do. If I can expand on it, I’ll do it. I like pushing myself to the limits of music to see what different things I can try.
That freedom really comes through in your work. You’ve also got some new material out at the moment. What’s your latest release?
My latest release is called “Lost Thoughts.” It’s a relationship-type song. It’s me expressing myself—something that could be based on a relationship I’ve experienced or gone through in the past, or even telling the story on behalf of someone else.
That sounds deeply personal. You’ve also got a live show coming up soon. Do you want to tell everyone where it is and how they can get there?
Yeah, I’ll be performing at Level 3 Night Club at Crown. Tickets are $20 online. It’s kicking off soon.
